Biografia

Laura Patricia Zuntini de Izarra possui graduação em Literatura Inglesa (1974) pelo Instituto Juan XXIII (Argentina), mestrado (1989) e doutorado (1995) em Estudos Linguísticos e Literários em Inglês pela Universidade de São Paulo. Atualmente é professora titular da Universidade de São Paulo e coordena a Cátedra W.B.Yeats de Estudos Irlandeses (desde 2009) e acordos de intercâmbio entre a USP e universidades irlandesas. Foi cofundadora e presidente da Associação Brasileira de Estudos Irlandeses (ABEI 1988/ 2008-2017) e da Society for Irish Latin American Studies (SILAS 2003/ 2006-2009); membro fundador da Associação de Estudos Irlandeses do Sul, Argentina (AEIS 2017) e mentor da Aliança de Cátedras de Estudos Irlandeses na América Latina (desde 2022). É vice-presidente da Associação Internacional para o Estudo das Literaturas Irlandesas para Outros Países (IASIL 2018-2025). Foi Diretora Adjunta e Vice-Presidente da Agência de Cooperação Nacional e Internacional da USP (2015-2021). Seus projetos e publicações interdisciplinares são em literatura irlandesa contemporânea, irlandesa na América do Sul, estudos de memória e diáspora, teorias (pós/de)coloniais e trauma cultural.

 

Graduated in English Literature (1974) from the Juan XXIII Institute (Argentina), Master (1989) and PhD (1995) in Linguistic and Literary Studies in English from the University of São Paulo. Currently, she is a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo and coordinates the W.B.Yeats Chair of Irish Studies (since 2009) and exchange agreements between USP and Irish universities. She was co-founder and President of the Brazilian Association of Irish Studies (ABEI 1988/ 2008-2017) and of the Society for Irish Latin American Studies (SILAS 2003/ 2006-2009); a founder member of the Association of Irish Studies of the South, Argentina (AEIS 2017) and mentor of the Alliance of Chairs of Irish Studies in Latin America (since 2022). At present, she is vice-chairperson of the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures for Other Countries (IASIL 2018-2025).  She was Deputy Director and Vice-President of USP National and International Cooperation Agency (2015-2021). Her interdisciplinary projects and publications are in Irish contemporary literature, Irish in South America, memory and diaspora studies, (post/de)colonial theories and cultural trauma.
