The Teaching Improvement Program (PAE) is a training modality exclusive to the University of São Paulo (USP) (regulated by Portaria GR 3588, of May 10, 2005), intended exclusively for Post-Graduate students enrolled in Master's and Doctoral courses at the University of São Paulo.
Its main objective is to enhance the training of the postgraduate student for undergraduate teaching activities and its composition consists of two stages: Pedagogical Preparation and Supervised Teaching Internship.
The Pedagogical Preparation Stage assumes different characteristics according to how the Teaching Unit structures it, and can be found in two modalities:
- A Post-Graduate course offering credits, whose content will be focused on issues of the University and Higher Education;
- Activity core, involving preparation of didactic material, discussions of curriculum, course syllabi (ementas), and course planning, coordinated by professors.
Regarding the Supervised Teaching Internship Stage, this is carried out specifically in undergraduate courses, and the interested party must enroll in the Teaching Unit corresponding to the area of knowledge pertinent to their course.
At the end of the internship, after the formalities have been fulfilled, participants who achieve satisfactory performance are entitled to a certificate and, at the discretion of the Post-Graduate Commission, may receive credits for the activity. The regulation requests the completion of an internship.
